ABOUT MGI SLATE AND STONE

MGI Slate and StoneAlan Homan has remodeled houses over the last 20 years, as well as designed and built new; always trying to find the best products to work with. Alan is impressed by the permanence and enduring value of stone.  In 1999 he collaborated with Thelen Total Construction in the design of his Lakeland Homebuilders’ Parade Home, in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

When he designed his second custom home, Alan used over 1600 square feet of premium Indian natural stone on the main level, including floors, showers, tub surrounds, and backsplashes. The intrinsic beauty, variety, and quality of this top-of- the-line slate, marble, quartzite, limestone, and sandstone, is breathtaking.  His source has 20 years experience personally selecting onsite and importing this stone from India, and together they are bringing it to South Central Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and across the country.  Their warehouse is filled with products to make your house, business or project more beautiful.

We serve all fifty states with our trucking partners, and can drop-ship pallets or ocean sized containers to your jobsite.  As importers of premium natural Indian stone, we can offer wholesale-direct pricing to architects, designers, builders, homeowners, and tradesmen. MGI Slate and Stone delivers nationwide!

NATURAL STONE, THE HEART OF THE EARTH

Since the beginning of time, natural stone has been the premium building material of choice. The key to the lasting quality of ancient buildings such as the Taj Mahal and the pyramids of Egypt is stone construction. Natural stone is a rock solid asset.

Whatever you are building, natural stone offers unequalled beauty, permanence, uniqueness, and value to your project.  Because stone is a natural, not manufactured, product, no two pieces are exactly alike. This means flooring, walls, countertops, fireplace surrounds, tub or shower enclosures are distinctively unique.  Unlike synthetic imitations, natural stone is not manufactured using plastic and resins; it is the heart of the earth.

Slate, Marble and Quartzite
Metamorphic rock is formed when subterranean water, massive pressure and heat come in contact with deep rock. The beautiful patterns present in these stones are the result of this process.

Limestone & Sandstone
Sedimentary rock is formed as sediment precipitates out of water, or is left in layers as water recedes.  Under intense pressure this sediment bonds over the ages to form these beautiful stones.

Color
Unlike the repetitive sameness of materials from mass-produced assembly lines, stone's naturally varied and lively appearance offers character and creates a one-of-a-kind effect everywhere it is used.

Finish

Natural stone comes from the quarry in a natural cleft, tumbled, or polished surface. Each has a distinct individual appearance.

Cleft is achieved when the stone is split to reveal its individual identity and character.

A tumbled finish is a satin smooth surface with relatively little light reflection.

A polished finish has a shiny, reflective surface and emphasizes depth of color and marking of the stone.

CARE & CLEANING

Simply dust mop or vacuum floors, using a Swiffer if you choose.  Clean stone with mild dishwashing liquid and warm water, using a mop, or soft cloth.  Rinse and allow to dry.
